(At the European Parliament in Brussels during the Journalism Prize Award Ceremony)Jannis Papadimitriou is a Greek-German journalist and jurist, gratuated from the University of Bonn and specialized in European and Public International Law. He speaks English, German, Spanish, Greek and elementary French and Polish. For about 15 years Jannis has worked as an editor, presenter and producer for German Television (WDR Cologne, SWF Baden Baden, DW) and Deutsche Welle Radio. He has also worked as a news anchorman and foreign desk editor for various TV-channels in Greece. Currently he is an Athens- based correspondent for Deutsche Welle and the German daily Die Tageszeitung. He reports regularly on European affairs and Greek- German relations. In February 2016 Jannis received a Journalism Award by "Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft" in Munich, Germany, for his coverage of the eurozone and Greek debt crisis. 2008 he was nominated for the Journalism Prize of the European Parliament in Brussels and 2010 he was awarded the Calligas Journalism Prize in Athens, Greece, for promoting European integration. Ο Γιάννης Παπαδημητρίου είναι νομικός, δημοσιογράφος και συνεργάτης-ανταποκριτής της Deutsche Welle, ενώ συνεργάζεται και με τη γερμανική εφημερίδα "Tageszeitung" του Βερολίνου. Απόφοιτος της Γερμανικής Σχολής Αθηνών και της Νομικής Σχολής του πανεπιστημίου της Βόννης. Για πολλά χρόνια εργάστηκε ως δημοσιογράφος και παρουσιαστής σε ενημερωτικές εκπομπές της γερμανικής τηλεόρασης (WDR, SWF, Deutsche Welle TV), καθώς και στο ραδιόφωνο της Deutsche Welle. Από το 1999 καλύπτει τακτικά τις συνόδους του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου στο Στρασβούργο. Το 2010 τιμήθηκε με το δημοσιογραφικό βραβείο Κωνσταντίνος Καλλιγάς. To 2016 έλαβε το δημοσιογραφικό βραβείο της γερμανικής Επιστημονικής Εταιρίας Νοτιοανατολικής Ευρώπης (Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft) στο Μόναχο για την κάλυψη της κρίσης χρέους στην Ελλάδα και την ευρωζώνη. Το 2008 ήταν υποψήφιος για την Ελλάδα στο πρώτο Δημοσιογραφικό Βραβείο του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου. Είναι μέλος της Ένωσης Ευρωπαίων Δημοσιογράφων και έχει γράψει το Μικρό Ευρωλεξικό, ενώ συμμετέχει στο βιβλίο "So sieht uns die Welt- Ansichten über Deutschland" (κυκλοφορεί από τον γερμανικό εκδοτικό οίκο WESTEND).
